We are sad to report that the queen of the 80’s, Mary Ellen Trainor, has passed away at the age of 62. She starred in several block buster films from the 80’s including The Goonies, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Ghostbusters II.
Mary was best remembered as Irene Walsh in The Goonies and kicked off her career in 1984 playing the role of Elaine in the Romancing the Stone. Her other roles in movies like Lethal Weapon and Die Hard allowed her to work with big name actors like Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, and Danny Glover.
We at HBTVS of course remember her for her role in the Tales from the Crypt episode “And All Through The House“. She played the cheating wife who murdered her husband for insurance money and unexpectedly has to hide from a mentally insane man who is dressed as Santa Clause. Oh man, the 80’s was such random fun, and she was a big part of that. R.I.P. Mary.
