Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby (1968) and Ti West’s The House of the Devil (2009) share more than a few similarities, and they’re two of my favorite slow burn horror films. The music in both does an incredible job of building an atmosphere for each film, and although parallels can be drawn in both movies, the soundtracks don’t quite line up in exactly the same way. For this edition of Soundtrack Swap we explore Rosemary’s Baby through a different lens (or soundtrack), and strip The House of the Devil of any pop its music has. The Vimeo version of the video is included below as well, if you encounter any issues watching through YouTube.
I think both films are expertly scored and neither film is improved by our latest Soundtrack Swap experiment, but it is fun to hear a new take on both of these slow burn experiences!
