The Editor is a giallo-inspired horror comedy that premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival that was directed and produced by Astron-6’s Adam Brooks and Matthew Kennedy. Astron-6 produces throwback genre films and The Editor is their most recent success as the exclusive U.S. distribution rights were recently secured by Shout! Factory.
The Editor stars Paz de la Huerta (Nurse 3D, Boardwalk Empire), Samantha Hill (Bad Meat), and one of my favorites Udo Kier (Flesh of Frankenstien, Blade, Suspiria) among others.
Rey Ciso (Adam Brooks) was once the greatest editor the world had ever seen. Since a horrific accident left him with four wooden fingers on his right hand, he’s had to resort to cutting pulp films and trash pictures. When the lead actors from the film he’s been editing turn up murdered at the studio, Rey is fingered as the number one suspect. The bodies continue to pile up in this absurdist giallo-thriller as Rey struggles to prove his innocence and learn the sinister truth lurking behind the scenes.
The Editor is set to be released under the Scream Factory label on Blu-ray and DVD on September 8, 2015 and will be loaded with features including an audio commentary from Adam Brooks, Matt Kennedy, and Connor Sweeney (who stars in the film), the documentary Making Movies Used To Be Fun, deleted scenes, and more.
