Showtime has recently released a new promo for Twin Peaks that doesn’t reveal much of anything story wise, but at least gives us assurances that we will actually be seeing the return of the iconic series from creators David Lynch and Mark Frost as it is currently in production. The video mostly provides a look at the location that is Twin Peaks, and a tiny look at something new from the upcoming series. Per the video description, below is what we know of the story for the show’s return.
Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, TWIN PEAKS followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…
Also included below, is a video showing how the international pilot of Twin Peaks ends. If you weren’t aware, funding for the show’s pilot was made possible due to a contract David Lynch and Mark Frost signed with Warner Home Video that would allow them to release the pilot as a stand alone movie internationally. Due to this, 20 minutes of additional footage had to be shot to wrap up and resolve the story. This video highlights the most important parts of that additional footage. It doesn’t really tie into the rest of the series continuity, but some of the footage did make it into later episodes as a dream.
